I fully anticipate dying an old maid, for similar but not identical reasons.

I want a *partner*. I don't care about the whole children thing, in fact would prefer not to really have to deal with them, I don't have a serious urge to play Suzy Homemaker, but I want someone who'll take care of me and I can take care of him, and preferably that I can share something besides home/love/attraction thing, too. I want someone with the same goal and drive towards something. Also someone who understands I compartmentalize--fun is what I do when I go off to GenCon or play KoL. Everything else has to serve a point, even sport. Ideally, I would find a partner for skating and off the ice, too, a la Nick and Caroline, my coaches. I'd be more than happy to spoil him rotten with my cooking at home, to have 'my' chores and 'his' chores, if he's willing to do the spider-killing, affection-providing, safety-reassurance male thing. (And do all the feeding and diaper stuff if he absolutely MUST have a child.)

Oh, yeah, and physically attractive to me would be nice, too, while we're pipe-dreaming. Anglican or Catholic-but-not-too-Catholic also good.

I think we'd better stock up on cat food.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11693885.post-1123471213402878912005-08-07T23:20:00.000-04:002005-08-07T23:20:00.000-04:00I know this probably isn't what you want to hear r...I know this probably isn't what you want to hear right now, but I'm here to testify that healthy specimens of the North American Mature Male still exist; they have not been hunted and persecuted to extinction, nor are they as fantastic as the fabled unicorn.

I know, because I'm married to one.

If you were LDS, I'd suggest dating some nice Mormon guy. The rest of the world seems to believe Mormons are obsessed with patriarchal structure, and all sorts of similar non-PC concepts. In reality, most Mormons would say that men and women have different areas where they possess special talents and abilities, and that neither can do without the other, nor is one contribution more important than the other. In the best relationships, they balance and complete each other.

I have great faith that there is a Catholic equivalent of such a man out there somewhere. The trick is finding him (or, for that matter, finding the time to find him).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
